COVID-19 (Coronavirus)

January Re-opening for Pupils

We would like to advise parents and carers that at the moment we are open from Wednesday 6th January as planned. At present, we are awaiting further information and we are unsure how this will affect our school. A further update will be sent as soon as possible.

We are very pleased that school is fully reopened to all pupils from September 2020.

Our first priority has to be the safety of everyone in the school community and the safety and happiness of each and every child. We are that sure every family has their own worries and concerns about this reopening of school, and we would like to reassure you that we are following all national and local guidance. Our protective measures are laid out in more detail here.

Here is the Autumn Term letter about our on site arrangements. September 2020 letter to parents and carers

Please follow the current safety advice to stay safe, happy and well. We will continue to provide further information in the coming days and weeks as soon we are able to do so. Best wishes to each and every one of you.

We ask that all parents and carers dropping off or collection children, or entering the school yard for any reason, to please wear a face covering and remember to socially distance from other households. Thank you for your cooperation.

Like all of the North East of England, Durham currently has a Local COVID Alert Level of STAY AT HOME – we are placed in Tier 4 of the governments local restrictions. A pdf poster detailing the Tier 4 restrictions for County Durham can be downloaded here: COVID-19_Tier_Posters_December_2020_Stay_At_Home

Here is a letter from Amanda Healy, FFPH, Director of Public Health for Durham to remind us not to gather at the school gates.

All the latest government and NHS advice can be found at https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

The government has published information and guidance for parents and carers about the full return to school which is available for you to read online here:
What parents and carers need to know

All parents and carers have also been sent this leaflet: Returning to primary school: what parents need to know August_2020_Schools_Primary_A4Leaflet

We realise this is a very difficult and challenging time for our pupils and families and would like to reassure you that our school phone lines are open during normal school hours for any help and advice, and you can contact your child’s class teacher through the class email as well.

Arts Council Award

We are very excited to announce that we have achieved the Artsmark Gold Award, awarded to us by the Arts council of England.

This means that as a school community we have worked together to promote arts and culture in our values and ethos, engaged our children with the arts, embedded a diverse  curriculum with lots of cultural opportunities, developed all of our staff and ensured equality and diversity for all.

We are determined to keep building on this success and offer our pupils ever increasing cultural capital.

Thank you to all of our parents, carers, governors and friends of the school – we couldn’t have done it without you! And congratulations to Arts Lead Mrs Sergeant and all of our hard working and inspirational staff team.
